About the Owner
Kristian moved to Calgary after high school to pursue engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering, but decided to pursue carpentry at the end of his first year. Kristian got into residential concrete forming and was hired by PCL in 2007, with which he pursued his Journeyman Ticket. "I realized that carpentry had many challenges and opportunities that I had not considered in my rearing, this was my chance to use the gift that I was given." He worked alongside Journeyman carpenters from around the world, even master carpenters from Germany. Building a structure can be difficult, but building a structure to keep in 30-90,000 lbs of concrete can be quite complex! He worked wall crew, helping to build the South Paliser building beside the Calgary tower. "We were five and we were the highest production crew in Calgary."
He worked on the Glenmore Water Treatment Facility Upgrade and SAIT Polytechnic Trades and Technology Complex buildings. He graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2012 with Red Seal Journeyman certification and worked residential on the Sunshine Coast in BC. He worked for himself with little more than a Ryobi circular saw, Makita cordless drill and basic hand tools running out of the back of his car.
Kristian married in 2014. With the help of his wife, JMJ Construction was created and they settled in Souris, MB in 2017.
